Spring
Poems for April...
SPRING
I.
Glimpsed two sparrows
dancing in the branches.
The male, desperate
and needy.
His female companion,
cold and aloof
II.
The sun rests
between the hills
like the way
I lay my head
between your breasts,
watching the sunrise,
tangled in bed,
a sheen of cold sweat—
petals dappled with dew.
III.
And maybe that's why
the city is loud.
The spectre of winter
all but gone
and while most of our lives
are spent underground,
we emerge for the sun—
flowers in bloom.
